The organizers of the first Peacemaker Music and Arts Festival on Tuesday (Sept. 8) presented checks totaling $10,000 to four Fort Smith area charities.
The non-profit organizations receiving donations from the inaugural Peacemaker Festival are Girls, Inc., The Children’s Emergency Shelter, Developmental Wings and The First Tee of Fort Smith.
“We’re very happy to be able to present checks to these great organizations”, said Trent Goins, treasurer of the Peacemaker board of directors. “We’re giving over $10,000 that will benefit people right here in Fort Smith.”
This first year festival, held at Harry E. Kelley Park in downtown Fort Smith, drew more than 7,800 attendees during the 3-day event held July 31 - Aug. 2, 2015 and featured headliners Jason Isbell and The Chris Robinson Brotherhood plus other national and regional performers.
The group also announced plans to create a new music series call “Peacemaker Presents” that will be ongoing throughout the year. Details about that will be announced soon.
The Peacemaker Music and Arts Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who’s mission is to improve the cultural life for all residents and visitors of Fort Smith by providing diverse music performed by acclaimed local, regional and national artists. The organizers are committed solely to the production of the festival for charitable and educational purposes and to advocate social welfare.
