NorthWest Arkansas Community College will offer a workshop on Nov. 11 for individuals interested in taking college credit classes or pursuing a workforce certification or high school equivalency diploma.
The college invites members of the community to attend its Return to Learn event beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Walmart Auditorium of the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies.
Return to Learn is a student recruitment event aimed at helping nontraditional students overcome some of the hurdles that previously may have prevented them from enrolling in college courses.
“Return to Learn is NWACC’s way of taking some of the stress out of entering college,” said Jamie Johnston, associate director of Admissions and Advising. “We know that trying to navigate the financial aid, admissions and advising process can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you also are juggling responsibilities of a full-time job and managing a busy household. Return to Learn is held after regular business hours, and it brings many of the college’s learner support services together in one setting. Participants attending Return to Learn can learn how to apply for admissions and financial aid, meet with an advisor and learn about flexible schedule options.”
Johnston added that Return to Learn also provides similar resources for those who would like to obtain workforce certification or earn a GED.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their 2013 tax return to the event to have a financial aid representative assist them with FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Food, drinks, and a chance to win door prizes will be available for all those who attend.
